Kona Grill Means Business With Opening in The Woodlands

This is the restaurant’s  first location in The Woodlands, and second in the Greater Houston Area.  Anticipating a late November opening, Kona Grill offers a combination of upscale American cuisine, a modern bar and award-winning sushi.

As an added convenience for Waterway Square tenants, the restaurant will offer a private dining room with a TV and audiovisual equipment for meetings.

The sleek décor will include a large-scale fish tank designed by Living Color Aquariums (the stars of popular Nat Geo Wild show, Fish Tank Kings), sleek metal and mesh drapes and swanky lounge furniture. Guests will enjoy water walls, multiple fire places and a state-of-the-art wine rack.  The nearly 1,500 square-foot outside patio will provide fire tables for impending cool months and decorative shade structures for long Texas summers.

Kona Grill’s signature dishes, prepared in a scratch kitchen, include the Macadamia Nut Chicken, Big Kahuna Cheeseburger and a Passion Fruit Crème Brulee. The sushi menu offers rolls in three different categories: Chef’s Plates, Traditional Rolls and Kona Rolls, all made with fresh fish. Famous Kona Grill drinks include “designer cocktails” like the Hibiscus with pear vodka, “slender drinks”, all under 140 calories, and sake and wine options. Happy Hour runs Monday through Friday 3:00-7:00pm with a Reverse Happy Hour Monday through Thursday 9:00-11:00pm and Friday – Saturday 10:00pm-12:00am.

The Woodlands Swim Team Holds Fundraiser for Breast Cancer Awareness

DSC_3185The Woodlands Swim Team’s 2013 fundraiser for breast cancer awareness, “Let’s Kick Cancer,” was a smashing success.  The team sold 250 pink swim caps in less than four hours and raised nearly $2,000 to benefit the Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Breast and Bone Center Fund at Memorial Hermann Foundation.  100 percent of the money raised will stay in Montgomery County, helping to fund free mammograms for underserved women, educational materials for newly diagnosed patients, and more.  For more information on The Woodlands Swim Team, visit http://www.itwst.org.  To learn more about cancer services at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital, visit www.memorialhermann.org.

The American, indie rock band’s debut album, “Night Visions” peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 chart. The album also reached No. 1 on the Billboard Alternative and Rock Album charts. STRIKE, LLC TO OPEN AT ONE HUGHES LANDING IN THE WOODLANDS

The Woodlands Development Company (TWDC), a wholly-owned subsidiary of The Howard Hughes Corporation (NYSE: HHC), today announced that Strike, LLC has signed a 70,190-square-foot lease in One Hughes Landing, the first office building at Hughes Landing, a 66-acre mixed-use development situated on 200-acre Lake Woodlands.  One Hughes Landing is now completed. The Class A office building is 92% leased.

THE WOODLANDS SELECTED FOR TEXAS ASSOCIATION OF CONVENTION & VISITORS BUREAU’S 2015 ANNUAL CONFERENCE

TACVB - The WoodlandsThe eyes of Texas travel professionals soon will be on The Woodlands.

For the first time, The Woodlands Convention & Visitors Bureau (The Woodlands CVB) will host more than 400 representatives from Convention & Visitor Bureaus across Texas at the Annual Conference for the Texas Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus in 2015.

“The Woodlands CVB is very pleased that our peers from Texas selected The Woodlands. We have worked very hard over the past few years to develop The Woodlands as a destination for conventions and leisure travelers. We appreciate the opportunity to host this conference,” said Nelda Blair, Chairman of The Woodlands CVB.

The largest association of Convention & Visitor Bureaus in the nation, the Texas Association of CVB’s 2015 conference will bring travel professionals to The Woodlands for education, promotional idea inspiration and other important travel and convention related topics.  The three-day conference also will serve as a showcase to present The Woodlands as a premier Texas destination for groups and vacationing families.

“To host travel professionals from across the state, many of whom have never been to The Woodlands, is an incredible opportunity,” says Nick Wolda, president of The Woodlands CVB.  “It is a real honor to be selected.”

The Woodlands was selected at the August 2013 TACVB conference in El Paso, Texas where representatives from The Woodlands CVB, The Woodlands Resort & Conference Center and The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center presented the attributes of The Woodlands to TACVB delegates who voted for the 2015 conference location.

Dates for the conference will be set once a host hotel is selected for the August 2015 annual conference.
