It’s time for a Township favorite: free Concerts in the Park

GMD Band 7-12b 5x5The Woodlands Township Parks and Recreation Department kicked off the fall 2013 Concert in the Park Series on September 8 at Northshore Park with a performance by the Josh Fuller Band. Fall concerts are held Sunday evenings, from September 15, 2013, through October 20, 2013, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., at Northshore Park, 2505 Lake Woodlands Drive.

The remaining fall Concert in the Park schedule is as follows:
• September 15, 2013: Hope Cassity (Country)
• September 22, 2013: Gary Michael Dahl Band (R&B/Jazz)
• October 6, 2013: Will Makar (Pop/Rock)
• October 13, 2013: Fondue Monks (Texas Funk)
• October 20, 2013: The Guppies Band (Classic Rock)

Concerts in the Park LogoIn addition to the musical entertainment, residents of all ages can participate in the new Family Fun Challenge while enjoying the concert, which will coincide with Concert in the Park series. The Family Fun Challenge will consist of sidewalk chalk competitions, a scarecrow building competition, a pumpkin hunt and more!

National Night Out Public Safety Expo set for Saturday, September 21, 2013

Local, state and federal law enforcement and safety agencies will join residents of The Woodlands to celebrate the National Night Out community-wide kickoff celebration at Northshore Park, 2505 Lake Woodlands Drive, on Saturday, September 21, 2013, from noon to 3 p.m. This free event is coordinated by The Woodlands Township and will include public safety and crime-fighting demonstrations.

Climb inside an ambulance or FBI tank, explore the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office or ICE Mobile command units, try on SWAT or FBI gear, watch live demonstrations from Narcotic, Explosive Detection and Apprehension dogs and meet real crime scene investigators and Texas Rangers. Additional activities include music, food, and a kid zone complete with a bounce house, face painter, balloonist, crafts and games. New this year: a texting while driving simulator and seatbelt rollover simulator. K-9 demonstrations begin at 1 p.m.
