TALISMAN ENERGY TO COLLECT UNWRAPPED TOYS FOR INTERFAITH OF THE WOODLANDS BEGINNING AT LIGHTING OF THE DOVES, iWOW FESTIVAL

2013 Talisman - Santa Toy Drive Promo-7411Families once again can brighten the holidays for those less fortunate by bringing an unwrapped toy to the 31st Annual Lighting of the Doves and the 7th Annual International Winter On The Waterway (iWOW) on Saturday, November 23, 2013 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Thanks to Talisman Energy, those who donate a $10 unwrapped toy while entering the Town Center Parking Garage for Lighting of the Doves and iWOW will receive free parking. Unwrapped toys also can be dropped off at the Talisman/Interfaith booth in Town Green Park during both festivals.

Starting November 25 through December 24, donated toys can be dropped off at the Central Fire Station of The Woodlands, 9591 Grogan’s Mill Road, daily from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

SUBWAY TO OPEN IN THE WOODLANDS’ CREEKSIDE PARK VILLAGE CENTER

The Howard Hughes Corporation®(NYSE: HHC) and its wholly-owned subsidiary The Woodlands Development Company (TWDC), recently announced that Subway Real Estate, LLC/VKC Group has signed a 1,437-square-foot lease to open a Subway® restaurant in the new Creekside Park Village Center in The Woodlands’ Village of Creekside Park.

The 60-acre village center will be located on Kuykendahl Road between Creekside Forest Drive and Creekside Green Drive. Anchored by an H-E-B grocer and a Walgreens drug store, Creekside Park Village Center will feature a “village green” that includes a tree-lined park and water feature, retail, dining and office space.

Kendra Scott will open a new jewelry store in March 2014 at The Woodlands Market Street. Kendra Scott, the popular jeweler from Austin, signed a 10 year lease.

Light the Night Results

LTNEmployees from The Woodlands Development Company, Bridgeland (including mascot Bridgeland Bill), Howard Hughes Management Services, The Woodlands Resort and The Club at Carlton Woods participated in the Light the Night event in Market Street, benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.  Some team members were already lined up for the walk and missed the photo including lovable mascot of The Woodlands, Puffy Pine Cone®.  The team brought in $5,651 for the nonprofit organization, exceeding the company goal by 13%.

Light The Night Walk is an annual walk and fundraising event benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. Teams of friends and families or co-workers raise funds for cancer research and to provide services in their communities. The Light The Night Walk is an evening filled with inspiration. During this leisurely walk, participants carry illuminated balloons – white for survivors, red for supporters and gold in memory of loved ones lost to cancer.

Thousands of walkers-men, women and children – form a community of caring, and bring light to the dark world of cancer. There is no registration fee. Walkers are encouraged to become a Champion for Cures by raising $100 or more to receive a t-shirt, balloon and food/refreshments.

LLS is making cures happen by providing patient support services, advocacy for lifesaving treatments and the most promising cancer research anywhere. And it’s all happening now. Not someday, today.

LE TOUR DE WOODLANDS CYCLING EVENT A BIG SUCCESS!!

DSC00070The second annual Le Tour de Woodlands cycling event presented by Pentagon Freight Services was a big success with more than 400 riders cycling on two separate courses.  The event was held on Saturday, October 19 with the long and short courses beginning and ending at The Woodlands Township.  Each participant received an event t-shirt and fun family activities and refreshments followed the ride.

“We are thrilled at the success of this event.  It was wonderful to see so many families, individuals and cyclists come together to not only have fun but to support the important work Interfaith of The Woodlands does every day in our community,” said Dr. Ann Snyder, President and CEO of Interfaith of The Woodlands.

The cycling event was open to both individuals and families, and the field included a four year old who completed the short course, and an 83 year old participant who finished the 20 mile long course.

“The Woodlands has always been a bicycle friendly community, and this event was a great opportunity for people living in The Woodlands to come together for a safe, fun ride while raising money for a great organization,” said Precinct 3 Commissioner James Noack, Honorary Chair of the Le Tour de Woodlands.

Post ride activities included refreshments, massages for participants, face painting and other fun activities.  “Pentagon Services was honored to serve as the presenting sponsor this year, and we look forward to an even bigger cycling event in 2014.  Pentagon Freight Services is dedicated to supporting the communities where we work and live,” said George Booth, Vice President of Pentagon Freight Services.

HOLIDAY SONGS AT WATERWAY SQUARE, TOWN GREEN PARK LIGHTS DRAW FAMILIES TO THE WOODLANDS

Waterway Square Fountains and TreeThe sights and sounds of the holidays will be everywhere in The Woodlands, from the bright, twinkling holiday lights in Town Green Park to the majestic, choreographed Fountains at Waterway Square which will perform to a selection of holiday songs beginning November 23, 2013.

Families can gather at Waterway Square for a musical performance of the fountain’s cascading waterfalls, booming water jets and colorful lights synchronized to Frosty the Snowman, Jingle Bells, Winter Wonderland, Feliz Navidad, Christmas Eve/Sarajevo and Wizards in Winter by Trans-Siberian Orchestra and The Most Wonderful Time of the Year.

The fountains will perform every fifteen minutes weekdays, from noon – 2 p.m. and 6 p.m. – 11 p.m., and weekends from noon – 11 p.m. through January 4, 2014.  In addition to the dancing fountains, the one-acre plaza will be highlighted by a 43-foot, lighted holiday tree, lit nightly at 5:30 p.m. from November 23, 2013 through Friday, January 3, 2014.

Winter Wonderland - Santa's Toy Company (low res)Nearby at Town Green Park, 2099 Lake Robbins Drive, families can experience lighted holiday displays among rows of brightly lit trees, doves, snowflakes and other illuminated holiday scenes. The park display is open nightly beginning at 5:30 p.m., November 23, 2013 through January 3, 2014.

In addition to eight illuminated doves on Lake Robbins Bridge, Donoho’s Jewellers Winter Wonderland, surrounding The Ice Rink at The Woodlands Town Center at the northeast corner of Lake Robbins and Six Pines Drive, visitors of all ages can stroll through an extraordinary fantasyland of magical, lighted toy soldiers, elves, doves, musical angels and snowmen every night from dusk until 11 p.m. Admission to Donoho’s Jewellers Winter Wonderland is free and open to the public November 23, 2013 through January 20, 2014.
