Thousands Visit Liberty Branch During Grand Opening Weekend

liberty1More than 2,300 people visited nine model homes and enjoyed old-fashioned refreshments and entertainment during the Grand Opening of Liberty Branch, a brand-new, neo-traditional neighborhood in the Village of Creekside Park. Visitors toured the homes and registered for a chance to win one of three $500 American Express gift cards. Jugglers, unicyclists, clowns, classic cars and young members of Class Act Productions in vintage costumes entertained the crowds.

liberty5On Saturday, February 8, the event kicked off with the official dedication of Liberty Square Park, one of two parks in Liberty Branch. Pictured in the ribbon cutting photo (top) are (left to right): Nick Wolda, Director of Community Relations for The Woodlands Township; Bob Bruce, Director of Landscape Architecture for The Woodlands Development Company (TWDC); Kelly Dietrich, Assistant Director of Parks and Recreation for The Woodlands Township;  Nancy Becker, President of the Creekside Park Village Association; Bruce Tough, Chairman of The Woodlands Township; Tim Welbes, Co-President of TWDC; Sheila Condon, President of Condon & Associates (park designers); and Elizabeth Gilbert, Project Manager for Condon & Associates.

liberty2The park features many references to moments in American history, including a plaque explaining the significance of The Liberty Tree. At the dedication ceremony, members of local Boy Scout Troop #1665 (second photo) planted an American Elm, symbolic of the Liberty Tree.  They also raised three flags – American, Texas and The Woodlands Township – and led the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance.

liberty3“Liberty Branch is a unique neighborhood situated in The Woodlands’ Village of Creekside Park,” said Tim Welbes, Co-President of TWDC.  “The design is based on traditional town planning principles, which makes it feel like a classic American small town within the forests of The Woodlands. Residents will have direct pedestrian access to the new Creekside Village Green (third picture) and Creekside Park Village Center, set to open later this year with an H-E-B grocery store and many other shops, restaurants and services.”

liberty4There will be approximately 400 new homes, ranging from townhomes and patio homes to large single-family homes, within Liberty Branch.  Four homebuilders – Coventry Homes, David Weekley Homes, J. Kyle Homes and Palmetto Homes – will feature model homes in a collection of classic American architectural styles ranging in price from the high-$200,000s to more than $900,000.
