Memorial Hermann In the Pink of Health Luncheon Is Huge Success

2013 TW In the Pink (165)Last week’s Memorial Hermann In the Pink of Health Luncheon presented by CB&I attracted more than 1,250 guests and netted more than $500,000 to benefit the Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Breast and Bone Health Center Fund at Memorial Hermann Foundation.  One hundred percent of the funds raised from the luncheon will stay in Montgomery County and will be allocated to three primary areas – education, technology and community outreach.  Throughout the years, proceeds from the luncheon have enabled the purchase of state-of-the-art screening and diagnostic equipment like breast tomosynthesis; access to free mammograms and care for underserved women; educational resources for newly diagnosed patients; and workshops and retreats for cancer survivors to provide education and support to help them navigate through their cancer journey.  For more information on the Breast and Bone Health Center at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands, visit www.memorialhermann.org or call 713.897.4172.

Cows Against Cancer

This October, Chick-fil-A cows in The Woodlands will be “Going PINK.” Ed Murray, franchise owner of Chick-fil-A Lake Woodlands Drive, The Woodlands Mall and Sawdust Road, has pledged to donate 100% of all proceeds from the sale of the infamous plush cows to iGoPink |The Breast Cancer Charities of America.

The Chick-fil-A cows will wear pink signs that read, “Reel Heeroz Eat Chikin” in support of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. They will be available for purchase while supplies last at three locations in The Woodlands for $5.00 during the month of October.

Participating Locations: 1660 Lake Woodlands Drive, 1201 Lake Woodlands Dr #2146 in The Woodlands Mall, and 720 Sawdust Road

Funds raised will go towards The Breast Cancer Charities of America’s primary program services including the Help Now Fund (paying the rent and utilities of women going through breast cancer), the University Education Program, and funding for non-invasive breast cancer treatment research.

This Weekend…Strut Your Stuff for Breast Cancer

SprintThe Woodlands, Texas (Sept 9, 2013): This weekend hundreds of women… and men… will grace the sidewalks of Market Street to sprint in high heels to raise money for Breast Cancer. On Saturday, September 14th, The Breast Cancer Charities of America (BCCA) will host their 4th Annual iGoPink Stiletto Sprint presented by Clear Choice Orthodontic Associates.

Many area businesses and residents have teamed up to run in pumps for a purpose. Sue Gold, of The Gold Mortgage Team and Cherry Creek Mortgage Company, was spotted practicing in the hallways of her office. Lauren Olson, and the staff at Radiance Advanced Skin and Body Care, are ready for the second year in a row; and Xtreme Lashes ladies have started applying pink lashes and body bling. This 50 yard dash is the most high-heeled fun The Woodlands has ever experienced!

Race divisions for Top Stiletto Sprinter exist for women and, most entertaining, for men. There is also a sneaker sprint for those less inclined to run in 3” heels and a mini sneaker sprint for the little “Divas in Training” and “Speed Demons”. Awards will be given to the winners of the races as well as Best (Pink) Dressed and Top Fundraiser.

The black-tie optional gala has become known as the ‘adult Halloween party’ in The Woodlands with guests showcasing gorgeous masks from Italy to classic Phantom of the Opera themed masks. The gala’s masquerade theme ties in their mission of helping to ‘unmask’ new, non-invasive treatments for breast cancer.

STUDENTS DONATE SPECIAL SHIRTS DESIGNED FOR MASTECTOMIES

Heal in Comfort 2013_8 in

The District 14-5A Girls Basketball, comprised of College Park, The Woodlands, Oak Ridge, Conroe, Bryan, and A&M Consolidated high schools raised $5,635 to go to HealinComfort4aChange.org. As a result of these fundraising efforts, this group purchased 60 Heal in Comfort shirts which in turn were donated to breast cancer patients at Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital. These specially-designed, comfortable shirts are for breast cancer patients to wear during recovery after a mastectomy. Some of the girls visited the Memorial Hermann The Woodlands campus to present this generous donation and are pictured with the Hospital’s Oncology Nurse Navigator Carol Lewis, BSN RN OCN CRNI.
