YMCA Senior Open House Presented by Cigna-Health Spring: Get Moving and Healthy at your local YMCA

DSC_1006The South Montgomery County YMCA will be opening its doors for free to seniors on September 12th.  The Open House will give seniors a chance to see what the YMCA has to offer, whether it be exercise classes, social gatherings, volunteer opportunities or field trips.  In addition, there will be helpful information from community partners related to senior services.

The South Montgomery County YMCA Open House and Activity Fair, for Seniors and their Guests, is Thursday, September 12th, from 10:00am to 1:00pm. Activities could include games, refreshments, health screenings including vision, spinal, and blood pressure, information on health & nutrition, senior services, fitness class demos, massages, tasty samples from local restaurants, tours, flu shots, door prizes, give-aways, light lunch and much more.

“The National Institute on Aging finds that staying physically active and exercising regularly can help prevent or delay some diseases and disabilities as people grow older,” said Roxanne Davis, YMCA Community Liaison. “We encourage our active older adults to stay active. Physical activity improves strength, energy and flexibility. Growing older shouldn’t have to mean losing your strength or ability to do everyday tasks and the other things you enjoy.”
